Fishing during the Lofoten seasonal fisheries

One of Norway's most authentic winter experiences

The Lofoten seasonal fisheries have been going on for thousands of years, and have been a key feature of Norway's formation as a nation. Through several hundred years Vaagar was Norway's main export town. A lot has changed since then, but the skrei is still wandering south from the Barents Sea to the Lofoten islands to spawn every year. We invite you to Lofoten to participate in this adventure.

The skrei has lived in the nutricious Barents Sea for at least five years before it comes to Lofoten to spawn. It is robust, and a superb culinary fish, arriving in such quantities that we can all but guarantee you will catch some! All of our skippers are very experienced Lofoten seamen and know where to go to find where the fish is located when you come to Lofoten.

We can tailor the perfect Lofotfisheries stay for you, whether you want to fish all day for several days or you want to combine fishing with cultural experiences, living in traditional seaman cabins, kayak, or a wide range of other activities.
