Guided mountain hikes next to
Gimsøystraumen

Overview

There are many hiking opportunities in and around Gimsøystraumen, so we can pick a hike that suits your needs perfectly. Here are peaks that offer views southward along the Nordland coast, eastward to Sweden, northward to Vesterålen, and westward to Værøy and Røst. These mountains rise directly from the sea, providing a fantastic view.

One of the biggest advantages of hiking in this area is that there are not as many hikers as in the mountains near the major towns in Lofoten. While in many other places in Lofoten, you might risk hiking in a queue the entire way, in these mountains, you will only sporadically encounter other hikers.

With so many mountains and trails in this area, we will find the mountain hike that suits you perfectly!

With so many mountains and trails in this area, we will find the mountain hike that suits you perfectly. The hike up to Svarttinden from Gravermark is a favorite of Queen Sonja's in Lofoten, and she has done it several times. Vassultinden in Brenna offers an efficient hike with fantastic views, perfect for evening and night hikes under the midnight sun. Kleppstadheia is great for those who are not very experienced with mountains but still want a fantastic view. Hoven on Gimsøya may not be very high, but it stands alone and provides an incredibly beautiful view.

The mountain hikes we guide in Lofoten are not particularly technically demanding, and you do not need any equipment like ropes or the like. However, we still recommend going with a guide in mountains you are not familiar with. Hiking in steep Lofoten mountains is never entirely without risk, but having a knowledgeable guide along makes it much safer.

On a mountain hike with us, the guide also shares local history, information about the places you see, local fauna, and wildlife.
