Guided trip along the
Sulitjelma railway
Overview
Our local guide will take you on a historical journey along the Sulitjelma Railway, a discontinued railway line that now forms part of National Road 830 from Finneid to Sulitjelma.
The Sulitjelma Railway construction began as early as 1892 and is filled with stories around every turn. With over 100 years of mining in a community considered unique in Norwegian industrial history, it has left its mark. Our locally knowledgeable guide will show you the historical ambiance and traces of the mining community's heyday up close.
After our guide has led you through the nooks and crannies of the community, we will make a stop at the Mining Museum. Then, you will be taken to Jakobsbakken, a mining community located 600 meters above sea level on the opposite side of the valley from Sulitjelma's main settlement.
Here, we will wander through the unique mining town before enjoying lunch with a breathtaking view of the Sulitjelma Massif and Norway's highest border mountain.
